18. The Multiverse Villains Arrive
So, after Strange hilariously admonishes Peter for not even trying to plead his case to the MIT administrators, Peter tracks down one of the admin personnel and approaches her on the freeway in the middle of a traffic jam.
At this moment, though, the multiversal rift unfolds, with Doc Ock (Alfred Molina) being the first legacy villain to appear in the MCU, showing up on the freeway to attack Peter.
In the ensuring fight, Doc Ock manages to steal away the Iron Spider nanotech, absorbing it into his tentacles, which causes them to "pair" with Peter's suit, allowing Peter to control them and eventually restrain Octavius with them.
The chaos on the freeway, as well as the arrivals of Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), Electro (Jamie Foxx), Lizard (Rhys Ifans), and Sandman (Thomas Hayden Church), creates a chaotic situation where Strange wants to round the villains up and send them back to their universes to die as they're fated to do.
But Peter wants to help "cure" them instead, and sets about capturing the five villains so he can engineer solutions to their "corruption" which will prevent their deaths.
