When Spider-Man first came to the MCU, he was one of the most grounded characters there was. He had super strength, and climbed walls dressed in a ridiculous spandex suit, but compared to the likes of Thor, Hulk, and several super soldiers, he was normal.

However, while his first movie dealt with a relatively grounded arms dealer, the sequel kicked it up a notch with an army of drones and an all-knowing pair of glasses. The third movie in the trilogy couldn’t be less grounded, as it will deal with threats to Peter coming from alternate universes.

One such threat will be Dr. Otto Octavius, Alfred Molina’s villain who terrorized Spider-Man and the city of New York in the second of Sam Raimi’s movies, and who hasn’t been seen since he supposedly died in 2004.

The merging of these two universes with Doc Oc at the forefront is one of the biggest milestones the MCU has ever achieved. Since almost 20 years have passed since then, Alfred Molina is being de-aged for his MCU debut, and it looks as though Marvel have yet again knocked it out the park. Disney have had mixed luck with such CGI after Mark Hamill in The Mandalorian, but this clearly won’t be the case in No Way Home.
