Spider-Woman: 10 Things You Need To Know Before Her Movie
2. She's More Powerful Than Spider-Man
The main reason Spider-Woman was created by Marvel Comics was to stop any other companies creating a similar, yet differently gendered, version of one of their most popular creations (that's the same reason She-Hulk was first introduced).
In the comic books, Jessica is an ally to Spider-Man, but they're far from best friends. They're also not related in any way, and have never been romantically involved. They have, however, clashed on quite a few occasions, and it's been established that Jessica is more powerful than her male counterpart. Those additional abilities mean she can overpower Peter, while she's also the better fighter.
Sony is clearly growing in confidence - hence why they were happy to take control of Spider-Man again - but that proved to be a PR nightmare, and to get fans back on side, they reteamed with Marvel Studios. However, if Spidey is to remain in the MCU, then the studio can use Spider-Woman as their own crown jewel and build a universe around Peter's more powerful female counterpart.
