If a Marvel domain name registration the BBC recently flagged up is anything to go by, Holland€™s solo debut in red and blue will called Spider-Man: Homecoming, a title that will have comic book fanatics€™ ears pricking up like the Green Goblin€™s.

For the uninitiated, Homecoming is an Amazing Spider-Man story that dates back to 1984. It€™s a tale centred on Spidey€™s Symbiote costume, the black mess of gooey malevolence that later gave birth to the villainous Venom.

There are a number of reasons to buy into this rumour. If the domain filing alone doesn€™t have you convinced, consider that Spidey€™s first outing for Marve€™s movie arm is literally a homecoming, and the word itself conjures images of high school proms, tying in neatly with the age of Holland€™s Peter Parker.

Furthermore, the €˜80€™s comic book features Iron Man, Captain America, Hawkeye and Thor among its roster of guest stars. Three of those are poised to share the stage with our wall-crawling protagonist in Civil War, so Homecoming could be a natural continuation of the next Cap movie.

Many of Homecoming€™s major players are already integral parts of the MCU and adapting the story would give the studio the chance to bring more of its classic characters into the celluloid fold, like Black Cat and eventually Venom.

However, we€™re looking at a loose adaptation, since the Spider-Man of the source material is a seasoned crimefighter, not a school-age newbie and that€™s hardly the only problem. It also feels too soon into Marvel€™s stewardship of the hero to be going down the Symbiote route, so that Homecoming domain could be just a placeholder.
