Lets assume Marvel is intent on adapting Homecoming as Hollands first starring role as Peter Parker 3.0. Introducing alien Symbiotes to the Avengers universe would be a game changer that paves the way for bigger challenges for Spidey.
Maximum Carnage, a 14-part epic crossover from 1993, is ripe for adaptation once our new Spidey has earned his stripes and his supporting cast are in full swing.
The storyline, which began in Spider-Man Unlimited #1, sees Carnage living up to his name and recruiting an army of supervillains for a bloody rampage across New York. Spidey alone is no match this motley crew, so he enlists the help of an all-star team that includes Captain America and Venom among its ranks.
Spider-Man and Cap should already be allies in the MCU by this point - providing Steve Rogers forgives him for binding his hands together in the Civil War trailer - and the introduction of Symbiotes in Homecoming would clear the way for Venom to spring into action. Theres even scope for a cheeky Iron Man cameo, as its a device from Stark Industries that ultimately turns the tide in Spideys favour.
A Maximum Carnage adaptation would be similar in scale to the upcoming Civil War, bringing together multiple heroes and villains for an epic battle. It would be a fine addition to Marvel Studios roster, a Phase or two from now, perhaps.
