Spider-Man: Homecoming - 6 Villains Michael Keaton Could Play (& 4 He Shouldn't)

3. Mysterio

Mysterio (real name Quentin Beck) might not be the most famous of Spidey's villains, but the casting of Keaton specifically makes him an intriguing prospect.

Beck was a former Hollywood special effects wizard who channels the skills he learned in his trade for a life of crime. He's not super-powered, but he has lots of potential for impressive set-pieces thanks to his talents for illusions. So that suits an actor who isn't necessarily bulging with muscles.

Most intriguingly, of course, is the fact that Keaton played a jaded Hollywood veteran so perfectly in Birdman, and he could bring something of that role to Mysterio.

Quite how they'd fit this in with Parker's school life is probably the biggest impediment to Mysterio being chosen: it would make more sense for the villain to be someone he'd encounter in his persona life. But if they do go in a different direction, Mysterio would be a great choice.
