Star Trek: 10 Best Uhura Moments

3. This Isn't Reality, This Is Fantasy

Star Trek III: The Search For Spock contains the all-time great scene of stealing the Enterprise. To pull this off, the crew under Admiral Kirk all have to pitch in - including Commander Uhura taking a seemingly back-seat role in proceedings.

Uhura's character had faded a little into the background in both The Motion Picture and the Wrath of Khan and, while present, there was a leaning toward some of the more mundane tasks that she had been lumped with in the Original Series. However, there is a clever twist in the second sequel. On returning to Spacedock, she takes an assignment at a lonely transporter room, paired with 'Mr. Adventure.'

The young officer makes the mistake of accusing her career of winding down, with nothing exciting happening. What follows is a hilarious, if short, scene in which she pulls a phaser on him, assures him that this isn't reality - it's fantasy, and that for his own good, he needs to lock himself in the closet.

Dr. McCoy wryly comments how glad he is that she's on their side - and she wishes them godspeed on their journey to Genesis. This small but crucial part to play was pulled off perfectly by Nichols, who was clearly having a ball when performing the scene.
