Star Trek: 10 Exact Moments We Knew These Characters Were Doomed

9. Valkris - Star Trek III: The Search For Spock

Valkris is the first female Klingon to appear in the Star Trek films and the second female Klingon since The Day Of The Dove's Mara. Very little was known about Klingon women, other than the fact that at this point in Star Trek's history, they were considered equals to their male counterparts.

Commander Kruge may not have learned that lesson.

Valkris is part of the team that acquires and delivers the Genesis project information to him. As it begins its transfer, she makes the fateful statement: I think you will find it useful. He pauses, looks up, and asks if she has seen it. She replies in the affirmative. A pity, he remarks.

In that moment, there is no doubt - Valkris is about to die. While she, Kruge, and the audience are all well-aware of this, the crew of the Merchantman is not. As the Bird of Prey swings around to fire, the captain is still demanding to know when he's getting paid for delivering the goods.

Soon. Quite soon, Valkris replies. She and Kruge wish other honour and success. Then he blows her out of the stars, before setting course for the Mutara Sector.
