Star Trek 3: 10 Directors Who Could Replace JJ Abrams

1. Drew Goddard

url-6Why He Should: Another member of the J.J. Abrams Super Friends Society, Drew Goddard is perfectly poised to tackle something like Star Trek, given all the fantastic work he's done with Abrams over the course of the last ten years. As a writer for the first, sublime season of Lost, Cloverfield, and the writer/director behind the brilliantly hilarious horror mash-up Cabin In The Woods, Goddard is a plucky young director who seems primed to take on something of this sort. And though he's never helmed anything this large before, he's proven himself a talented enough writer and director - one who could really bring something special to Star Trek 3, albeit something that still feels connected to J.J. Abrams, given their relationship and similar styles. He's also a huge geek. Why He Shouldn't: From a studio perspective, at least, Goddard is a risky choice, having never helmed something of Star Trek's size (or variety) before. He's also only ever directed one film, which means it's likely that Goddard doesn't have the learned skills one might acquire from directing a colossal studio blockbuster. Overall Probability: 6/10Which directors do you think could tackle Star Trek 3? Let us know in the comments section below.
