9. Ridley Scott
Why He Should: Give Ridley Scott any script and he'll turn in a visual masterpiece, no matter how good the writing is. And though Scott's not much of a screenwriter himself, any
Star Trek movie in the hands of the director of
Alien and
Blade Runner is bound to astound from a technical perspective. Thanks to
Prometheus, too, we know that Scott still has it in him to helm something absolutely huge, space-bound and within the realms of the science-fiction genre:
Prometheus is also filled with the neat little scientific details, the kind that also inhabit the
Star Trek universe.
Why He Shouldn't: Scott hasn't exactly delved into existing franchises yet, and usually prefers to work with the ease of original projects. There's a good chance that he won't correctly associate with the universe that has already been set-up as a result, and could easily brush the characters and story aside in favour of the visuals.
Overall Probability: 3/10
