Star Trek 3: 10 Reasons Why We Already Know It Will Suck

8. Transwarp Beaming

Military Shuttle Interior Transporter Transwarp Beaming was introduced in Star Trek 2009 as a lazy way to get Kirk and Scotty back on to the Enterprise while it was travelling at warp. But Into Darkness showed us that anybody can have access to it, and Starfleet is being an idiot by not making better use of it. We saw Khan Transwarp Beam from Earth and all the way to Kronos. In a blink of an eye he managed to travel millions of light-years without a worry. So like Khan€™s magic blood, another lazy plot device ruins another staple in the Star Trek universe. There is no need for Starfleet to send ships any where, just beam where ever you need to go. If they have to send out ships to €˜€™explore,€™€™ then just fit all ships with emergency Transwarp Transporters. No one will be in danger any more. The first sign of trouble and the whole crew can beam back to Earth. All those times in Star Trek where they had to move a dangerous prisoner or emergency supplies to the nearest Starbase, they don€™t have to any more, just Transwarp beam. Gone is the feeling that these people are in space, venturing alone to explore in potentially dangerous situations because whenever they have a problem, they can just beam back to safety. Like an intergalactic safety net. So there is nothing to worry about any more.
