4. Bryan Singer
A director who has a lot more experience than Rian Johnson, and experience in trying to please fanboys in many franchises, is one Bryan Singer. Mr Singer (who sadly missed a trick in not going into the music industry) is the man behind the X-Men movies and Superman Returns in 2006. His X-Men films are universally acclaimed, and it's telling that the one that critically wasn't (X-Men: The Last Stand) is the only one to not to have Singer's hand in it's making. Bryan Singer knows how to blend human drama in with all the futuristic action, which all great sci-fi films do, and is definitely someone most Trekkies would love to see look after their beloved franchise. Perhaps the deal-sealer is that Singer is a lifelong Star Trek fan, to the point where Patrick Stewart invited Singer to the set of Star Trek Nemesis in 2002 and got him a cameo role as a Starfleet officer aboard the Enterprise. Destiny?
