Star Trek 3: 5 Awesome Directors Who Could Take The Helm From J.J. Abrams

2. Kenneth Branaghkenneth-branagh I'm sorry. How terribly rude of me. I mean Sir Kenneth Branagh. The man, the myth, the lover. I love everything about this man. I love his incredible voice that could hush a pack of rabid dogs. I love his wonderful eyes that sparkle with the promise of a thousand summers we'll never have. And I love the fact that at the Olympic Opening Ceremony, he dressed as Isambard Kingdom Brunel (Best. Name. Ever) and recited some Shakespeare. For the lulz. So we've established I quite like the guy. But why should he helm the new Star Trek? I think Branagh is an interesting filmmaker, with a keen eye for the details. When I found out he was directing Thor, I was a little baffled. But upon seeing the film it all made sense. Of course a Shakespearean actor would make Thor into an incredible piece of work. A saga about family feuding over many different lands is basically Shakespeare anyway, and Branagh was the right man for the job. He also proved that he could shoot great action scenes. If he were to come on board the good Starship Enterprise and help with the script as well, the dialogue between Kirk and Spock would be glorious. So come on Ken, stop doing whatever it is that Knights of the Realm do and pick up a phone!
