Star Trek 4: 8 Villains We Might See

7. Gul Dukat and The Cardassians

Klingon Star Trek
CBS

Many people talk of Khan as the greatest Star Trek villain, but militant Cardassian Gul Dukat is a serious contender for that title. The Cardassians are a refreshing alternative to the Klingons, and proved to be brilliant antagonists in The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine. There is no iconic lead Kilngon villain, but Dukat is a powerful villain with a powerful supporting army.

In fact, the Cardassians are so badass they're enemies of the Klingons- if ever there was a force to cause an uneasy alliance between the Klingon empire and the Federation, it's the Cardassians. They are more extreme in every way to the Klingons, a totally ruthless and xenophobic race who don't have diplomacy or unity on their minds. they even fight amongst themselves.

With Kirk and his team now older and wiser, they would have to maintain their composure, use their brains and their brawn to face off against such a violent yet highly intellectual race, headed by Gul Dukat who eventually loses his mind. Chris Pine's Kirk needs an iconic enemy in the same way Shatner's Kirk had Khan, and later captains had the Borg. Gul Dukat could be the perfect foil for him.
