Star Trek Beyond: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best

Even with all of these iconic personalities and excellent actors, the show was uniformly stolen by Sofia Boutella's Jaylah, an alien scavenger who saves Scotty from certain death and basically becomes his pal from there on out.

She's kick-a**, she's got an awesome look, and Boutella's performance makes her almost immediately likable. She's a tough, resourceful female character, which considering how much Uhura is sidelined in this movie, was desperately needed.

Her motivation for helping take Krall down is simple but effective, her banter with Scotty is terrific and, best of all, it seems like she'll be returning for the next movie, considering that she joins Starfleet at the end.

What could easily have been a disposable "one and done" character will hopefully have a similarly prominent part in Star Trek 4, because she was insanely awesome here.
