Star Trek: Every Starfleet Starship Class Ranked Worst To Best

Star Trek Attack Fighters
CBS Media Ventures / Paramount Pictures

These small attack fighters were the vanguard of Starfleet in most of the major engagements with the Dominion. They would take on the enemy first in an attempt to disrupt the careful layout of the opposing side's lines, with varying results. Sisko employed squadron after squadron of them to single out the Cardassians, believing that the Cardassians would be more likely to break ranks and chase them.

The ships were versatile, though not entirely strong enough to take on a Galor class ship. They were appropriated by the Maquis as a backbone of their small resistance fleet, combined with the raiders that would also serve them.

The ships were very quick and maneuverable, serving Starfleet well as they, more than most of the fleet, were designed for combat.
