Star Trek: Every Starfleet Starship Class Ranked Worst To Best

50. Antares

Star Trek Antares Class
CBS

The Antares class of ship had a staggered debut in Star Trek. Initially, it was written into the script of Charlie X, one of the early episodes of Star Trek's first season. However, no model was designed for the episode.

The model that eventually served as template for the ship that would later come to be depicted in the remastered edition of Star Trek The Original Series was the robot grain ships that appeared in the The Animated Series episode, More Tribbles, More Troubles.

Using this design, Mike Okuda created the blueprint, retroactively, for the USS Antares that was depicted in the new version of Charlie X. For all of this, however, the poor vessel was still doomed - destroyed off-screen by the malevolent Charles Evans!
