Star Trek: Every Starfleet Starship Class Ranked Worst To Best

47. Starfleet Tug

Despite the large fleet that Starfleet boasted in the 2370s, it was far from invulnerable. Several vessels, having received a pasting from the Dominion, were unable to escape on their own power and therefore required the help of another ship. Rather than have other, damaged vessels drag these broken ships home, the Starfleet Tug ship was used.

A relatively small ship at around 90 metres in length, it was a stocky build that was purely designed to bring the fleet home. It had a maximum speed of warp 6, with a crew of 6 engineers aboard. The USS Frederickson, pictured here, received the aid of one such tug to get it back to Federation space after a run in with Dominion vessels.

It would unfortunately not be the only ship that required these ships and, as the war progressed, more and more of the Starfleet Tugs were rushed into production, helping to save the ships on the front lines.
