Star Trek: Every Starfleet Starship Class Ranked Worst To Best

44. Mission Scoutship

Star Trek Mission Scout Ship
CBS

This type of vessel has been listed as both Venture class and Talon class, serving as something as an intermediate step between shuttlecraft and Runabout. It is 24 metres long, armed with phasers and photo torpedoes, though it houses only a single occupant.

It has the capability of entering a planet's atmosphere and operating at high speed, though it has a weakness to tachyon based weapons. It could be accessed via a hatch in the ventral side - something that allows Captain Picard and Commander Worf to capture Data, when the android malfunctions in the Briar Patch.

In the Star Trek Armanda games, the scout ship was used primarily to detect cloaked vessels - allowing it to serve as an important part of the fleet, despite its small size.
