Star Trek: Every Starfleet Starship Class Ranked Worst To Best

64. Daedalus

Star Trek Daedalus Class

The Daedalus class vessels were among the very first starships that Starfleet ever employed. They were distinctive in that they have a spherical front section, with the drive section extending back behind it. Though by the 2150's they were already considered outdated, they saw a new life when the Earth-Romulan war began.

Several of these vessels were lost in the war, while still others were lost on other missions. The USS Essex was lost over a planet, only for the crew of the Enterprise-D to find the crash site almost three hundred years later.

While these may not have been the most advanced ships in service, their classic design made them a favourite among officers and designers alike, remembered when the medical Olympic class was being designed.
