Star Trek: Every Starfleet Starship Class Ranked Worst To Best

Star Trek Cardenas Class
CBS

The Cardenas class was one of the four nacelle type ships that operated in Starfleet. The USS Yeager took part in the Battle of the Binary Stars. That ship was named for Chuck Yeager, the pilot of the first manned supersonic flight aboard the Bell X-1. The B-29 bomber that assisted that vessel was piloted by Brigadier General Robert Cardenas.

The bridge for this vessel was directly at the front of the ship, rather than further back along the hull. The Yeager took part in that battle, although the other Cardenas class ship - the USS Buran - had been lost with most of the crew. The captain, Gabriel Lorca, was presumed lost after the one serving aboard the USS Discovery was discovered to be from the mirror universe.

The Cardenas class had served as the original basis for the Shenzhou design, before this was settled on in the end.
