8. Shepard
The Shepard class was another type of starship that saw service in the mid 23rd century, primarily in the Klingon-Federation war. Ships like the USS Kerala and the USS Gagarin were sent into combat against the Klingons, though like several other classes of ship in the fleet, they were ill-equipped for these types of battles.
The ship looked like a Walker class that was flipped upside down, with the sleek drive section attacked to the saucer section, and the nacelles swinging back and up from the rest of the ship.
While a beautiful design, it was no warship, and in the end several of them would be mercilessly destroyed by the Klingons, while the rest of the fleet looked on.
