Star Trek: Ranking Every Starfleet Uniform Worst To Best
11. Star Trek: Discovery
After the faithful and stylish update of the Star Trek: The Original Series' costumes for the three recent Kelvin Timeline films, Star Trek: Discovery's reinvention of Starfleet's look is a bit of a head scratcher.
Once again dispensing with the iconic gold, red, and blue division color uniforms for navy blue costumes with blinged-out gold, bronze, and silver division color highlights, Star Trek: Discovery's uniforms establish an almost completely new uniform style for the 23rd century.
Designed by Gersha Phillips, Disco's uniforms are meant to bridge the gap between Star Trek: Enterprise's blue Starfleet coveralls and TOS' signature costumes, and include numerous small details like screen-printed Starfleet insignias on the sides of the jackets and trousers, even division color soles on the bottom of the boots. The uniforms are also distinguished by asymmetrical collars reminiscent of those worn by female officers in "The Cage" and there are a number of different variations, including the standard two-piece uniform, short sleeve jumpsuit, and a militaristic excursion variant.
However, Disco's standard blue uniforms often fall into background due to the series' blue-lit aesthetics and pale in comparison to the classic gold, red, and blue spin on the Disco uniform worn by Anson Mount's Captain Pike and the Enterprise crew in season two.
