Star Trek: Ranking Every Starfleet Uniform Worst To Best
10. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine & Voyager
Based on the now immediately recognizable Star Trek: The Next Generation uniforms (as well as his own Starfleet cadet's uniform from TNG's "Allegiance" and "The First Duty"), Robert Blackman created a coverall-like costume to be worn on the more rough and tumble spin-off, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Distinctly more utilitarian than TNG's sleek, formal uniforms, DS9's roll-up-your-sleeves variant inverted the color scheme (placing the division color on the shoulders) and introduced the open zipper with turtleneck combo that went on to be a mainstay in several subsequent Starfleet uniform designs, including the First Contact-style uniform and the 2399 Starfleet uniform from Star Trek: Picard.
Blackman's DS9 coveralls were adopted for TNG's first big screen outing, controversially intermingled with the usual Next Gen attire in Star Trek Generations. These uniforms were also used in every episode of Star Trek: Voyager, even after the lucky officers aboard starbase Deep Space 9 got a wardrobe upgrade thanks to Robert Blackman and Deborah Everton's collaboration in Star Trek: First Contact.
