3. Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)
To date the most recent Star Trek film, and so far has achieved a stellar amount of critical praise. The plot focuses on two consecutive terrorist attacks on Earth, specifically against the Federation. After their respective commanding officers are killed, Kirk and Spock are once more given command of the Enterprise and sent after the man responsible - John Harrison. They're able to track him to the Klingon homeworld Kronos (or Qo'noS to us purists), where they are given the order to fire torpedoes to the planet to kill Harrison, regardless of the consequences and danger of starting a war with the Klingons.
The Good: Tightly scripted and edited, the film never slows down for a moment. Also, it provides several excellent homages to the older movies.
The Bad: A couple of plot holes and inconsistencies, and one particular instance of possible sexism.
The Ugly: Loads of over-acting. Loads. Of course, this may be for humorous purposes, or another homage to the older movies.
