1. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982)
Of course number one is this. How could number one be anything
but this? This move single handedly saved Star Trek, and rejuvenated public interest enough that the franchise continued, both in film and television. The film features the return of one of the greatest villains from the original series - Khan Noonien Singh. When a survey team stumbles across Khan, they learn he and his people have been marooned on Ceti Alpha V for decades, but the planet is now a barren wasteland. Fueled by his desire for revenge, he sets out to kill Kirk, the one who marooned him there in the first place.
The Good: Pretty much everything. Ricardo Montalban is amazing in his role as Khan; the atmosphere of the movie is intense and suspenseful; there are some genuinely shocking twists in it; and it is easily the most emotional Star Trek film ever.
The Bad: Hardly any, though if you're picky you can spot some plot holes and inconsistencies.
The Ugly: You all know what's coming... come on, say it with me!
"KHAAAAAAAAN!"
