Star Wars: 10 Actors' Roles That Ruin Their Classic Character

8. Christopher Lee Is A Flamboyant Assassin - The Man With The Golden Gun

A true cinematic legend and all round gent who sadly passed away this year, Christopher Lee has portrayed his fair share of iconic characters. When news that he was to be added to the Star Wars roster began to circulate, there was obviously a great deal of excitement. Who better to play a villain named ‘Count Dooku’ than the guy who made vampires sexy? His booming voice and stately presence exuded real menace, he was the true embodiment of a Sith.

While understandably, Lee has spent most of his career portraying moustache twirling levels of villainy, there has usually been an air of prestige to the proceedings. Watch the Roger Moore cringe-fest The Man With The Golden Gun and you’ll find that ‘prestige’ and all of its synonyms have been erased from your mind.

Lee plays Francisco Scaramanga, owner of the eponymous firearm and said to be an equal match for 007. Highlights of his time as a Bond villain include puns which somehow manage to make Moore sound like an award-winning comedian, his car which is also a ridiculously impractical plane and the fact that instead of winning a fair duel (which it’s heavily implied that he would have) he decides to chase James Bond round a convoluted fun house on his private island.

Only the unmatched Sir Christopher Lee could have made the role halfway credible. Just.
