Star Wars: 10 Actors' Roles That Ruin Their Classic Character
3. Harrison Ford Is A Boring Murderer - What Lies Beneath
Han Solo is one of the most aspirational characters in the illustrious history of fiction (and not just the science kind). Reinventing cool, he proved to the world that a leather vest and cavalry pants are an on-point fashion choice. This is the role that showed just how awesome Harrison Ford is at playing suave, rugged anti-heroes and all this despite that fact that he hated inhabiting the character and wanted him killed off.
While Ford may exude all the excitement and energy of a hibernating brick off-screen, his performance in the original trilogy was enough for many to forego lofty dreams of Jedi training and instead fantasise about being a small-time space trafficker. As he returns to play an aged Han Solo causing a mixture of both excitement and Crystal Skull inspired dread, at least one way or the other it will be interesting to watch.
The same cannot be said for his weary performance in What Lies Beneath, a bland psychological horror film which attempts to make baths scary. One of the film's greatest achievements is it's ability to make adultery and murder seem less dramatic than assembling a bedside table. After enduring this snooze-fest there’s not enough therapy in the world to erase the image of Han Solo fancying a change and drowning Leia in the Millennium Falcon’s hot tub (it obviously has one).
