3. The Legacy Of Thrawn
Star Wars fans have been hoping for a live-action appearance from Grand Admiral Thrawn for some time. His character in Canon is basically that of a ruthless proponent of the Empire. He featured heavily in Star Wars Rebels as a persecutor of the surviving Jedi and a crusher of hope. But after his defeat, he disappeared into Unknown Regions. In The Mandalorian we found out Ahsoka Tano has been hunting for him.
Legends Thrawn is far more nuanced than the evil oppressor we see in Canon. His reason for joining the Empire was all due to his knowledge of the Yuuzhan Vong. He ultimately believed that the Empire were the best hope for the galaxy when it came to surviving the looming threat.
Now these two separate versions of Thrawn could still be tied together.
Thrawn will appear in Ahsoka as the primary villain, so we'll likely find out more about what he's been up to in the Unknown Regions. It's also likely that the Ahsoka series will help to build structural plot points for a new Star Wars trilogy. If Thrawn's return from the Unknown Regions brings with it the news about the Yuuzhan Vong, it would be the perfect set up for Episode X.
