Star Wars: 10 Classic Characters Who Need Their Own Movie

8. Grand Moff Tarkin

Tarkin Recently, some of Tarkin's history has been revealed on The Clone Wars series, as he was revealed as an Admiral in the Republic. How then, does he get from here, to the man who blew Alderaan to smithereens and controlled Vader? Spin-offs based on popular antagonists are far from new, but Tarkin has more depth than the average antagonist. The true villain of A New Hope, Tarkin is cold and calculated and outshines Vader completely in terms of evil-doing, even if he lacks any mystical power. A Tarkin spin-off would have to find someone with a resemblance to Cushing who would be able to embody the horribly dark character the genius actor created. With accurate and acute casting, though, a Tarkin movie could be a magnificent film which would trace the change in Tarkin from a sarcastic but fair soldier in the Republic to a genocidal monster leading a large portion of the Galactic Empire in just 20 years. The change in Tarkin would be an extremely poignant and interesting theme for a film; a young soldier experiencing the changes in the universe as the Republic phases into the Empire and finds he himself changing with it. A spin-off such as this would also be helpful for stitching Episode III and Episode IV together, covering the years everyone has been intrigued by since 2005.
