Star Wars: 10 Expanded Universe Starships You Didn't Know Were Canon Again

7. Minstrel-class Space Yacht (The Star Jewel)

Like the Moldy Crow, the Minstrel-class Space Yacht is a spacecraft made famous thanks to its association with Star Wars: Dark Forces’ protagonist Kyle Katarn, though for entirely different reasons.

It is aboard the Star Jewel, Jabba the Hutt’s personal example of the class, that Katarn earned his reputation as the Chuck Norris of Star Wars by beating three Kell dragons to death with his bare fists. Yes, it was infamous for the sordid and decadent ‘social activities’ hosted aboard and feared for the six turbolasers boosted far beyond civilian limits, but fans didn’t care about that, because this was where Kyle Katarn became Kyle Katarn and that alone made it memorable.

It was also the setting for one of Dark Forces’ most frustrating levels, with Concussion Rifle equipped Trandoshans placed around every corner and mines practically the same colour as the floors spread liberally throughout its entire length.

Sadly its appearance in canon is nowhere near as colourful, featuring as one of the locations a young Darth Maul visits in the second issue of the comic book miniseries Star Wars: Darth Maul.

Marcellus Huisamen hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
