Star Wars: 10 Expanded Universe Stories They Should Definitely Adapt

2. The X-Wing Series

url-19 The series that details the Rebellion's campaign between the Battle of Endor and the establishment of the New Republic on Coruscant. I actually think this would work best as a well-funded TV show in the vein of Battlestar Galactica, but it would work almost as well as a series of films. The Rogue Squadron series of novels take place from the perspective of Corran Horn as he joins the most prestigious group of pilots in the Rebellion. With characters seen in the films (Wedge Antilles, Wes Janson, "Hobbie Klivian," and occasionally Admiral Ackbar ) given larger roles as well as some great EU characters such as Corran Horn, Baron Fel,Tycho Celchu, and Gavin Darklighter, the Rogue Squadron series would offer great insight into the camaraderie seen in the Rebel forces as they advance on Coruscant. The companion novels to the Rogue Squadron series, Wraith Squadron, sees Wedge Antille form a new squadron to take down Warlord Zsinj. The Wraith Squadron series introduces characters such as Myn Donos, Kell Tainer and Garik Loran while putting Wes Janson in a near starring role as second in command of the squadron. The film adaptions of these novels would thrust some of the most popular minor characters in the limelight and would feature a very likable central cast of characters. For some reason I think Martin Freeman would make an awesome Wedge Antilles although it will likely never happen.

I love movies, literature, history, music and the NBA. I love all things nerdy including but not limited to Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, and Firefly. My artistic idols are Dylan, Dostoevsky, and Malick and my goal in life is to become like Bernard Black from Black Books. When I die, I hope to turn into the space baby from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
