Star Wars: 10 Expanded Universe Stories They Should Definitely Adapt

1. Heir To The Empire Trilogy

url-20 Finally, the series I've hoped would be adapted ever since I first read them, the series has become accepted by many fans as the unofficial 7,8, and 9 of the series. The trilogy shows how the New Republic, despite finally being established as the leading power in the galaxy, comes under attack by Imperial secret weapon Grand Admiral Thrawn after his return from the unknown regions. Grand Admiral Thrawn is arguably the top creation of the Expanded Universe as the trilogy presents a villain who is at once brilliant, ruthless and charismatic. He uses the artistic creations of different species in order to build psychological profiles of Alliance leaders that he encounters as repeatedly pulls victories out of impossible situations. The series also introduces EU staples Mara Jade who holds a grudge against Luke Skywalker, the crazy Jedi Joruus C'Boath who is determined to use Luke, Leia and her unborn twins to rebuild the Jedi order in his image, and finally the Smuggler Talon Karrde. The adaption would need to put together an impressive cast to fully realize the potential. In addition to recasting the main characters (some consider it heresy but i'm not among them), they would have to find impressive actors for Thrawn (Michael Fassbender?) and Mara Jade (Emily Blunt?). To put the final amount of awesomeness in the films, Wedge Antilles and Roque Squadron might deserve a larger role and Boba Fett should be written in somewhere. For example, how cool would it be if Boba Fett helped destroy Thrawn's cloning machines at the end of the third entry (because Fett's a clone€ or something like that). The series would fully showcase the best cast of characters in the Expanded Universe, and would feature several large space battles as well as the occasional lightsaber fight. In short, it would be Star Wars at its finest. Like this list? Which expanded universe stories have we missed? Let us know in the comments section below.

I love movies, literature, history, music and the NBA. I love all things nerdy including but not limited to Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, and Firefly. My artistic idols are Dylan, Dostoevsky, and Malick and my goal in life is to become like Bernard Black from Black Books. When I die, I hope to turn into the space baby from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
