Star Wars: 10 Most Badass Clone Troopers
1. Rex
Alongside Ahsoka Tano, Captain Rex was the best written character to come out of The Clone Wars. Originally a by the books Captain, he becomes the most well developed and written clone character on the show.
Learning to think for himself, he has a fierce loyalty to his Jedi General and comrades. He also takes on many of Anakin's traits and teachings and acts as a big brother to Ahsoka, as well as a role model to his men.
This is most prevalent in The Umbara arc, where Rex is stuck between doing his duty or protecting the lives of his soldiers. Some of the bleakest episodes, this is where Rex really comes into his own and begins to challenge his belief system when facing off with General Pong Krell. It feels like a gritty war drama rather than a Star Wars show airing on a kid's television channel.
A fan favourite, Rex returned in Rebels alongside Gregor and Wolffe. Joining Kanan and his crew Rex continued to bring new and exciting ideas to the show. Seeing a clone and Jedi interact post-Order 66 creates some great moments. Rex even went on to participate in the Battle of Endor, joining Han Solo's strike team to blow up the forest moon's shield generator.
With the direction The Mandalorian is taking we may see him sooner than expected. We’ve already seen Temuera Morrison return to play one clone in Boba Fett, and given Ahsoka has already made the leap to live action, it might not be long before Rex joins his old ally in live action.
