Star Wars: 10 Possible Standalone Films

3. Rise Of Darth Vader

Considering the Prequel Trilogy led up to Anakin Skywalker becoming Darth Vader, a film about Vader€™s rise to power seems somewhat redundant since viewers already know the story. However, something many Star Wars fans can agree on is, within the Revenge of the Sith film, Anakin€™s decision to turn to the Dark Side was as if a switch simply flipped and he was suddenly evil. Viewers didn€™t get to see a proper transition into Darth Vader, especially as he was placed in the suit in Sith€™s final few minutes. As the franchise€™s arguably most popular character, it should be no surprise fans would want to see more of him. Soon after Revenge of the Sith€™s release, author James Luceno wrote a novel titled Dark Lord: Rise of Darth Vader, detailing Anakin€™s complete transition into Vader in the few months after the events of Order 66. A lot of emphasis is placed upon Vader getting used to the way the suit moves and feels as well as his own adjustments to The Force since he can no longer control it nearly as efficiently as he could before. The story is a journey for him as he accepts and moves beyond his new limitations, becoming the most feared being in the galaxy. A movie about Vader€™s beginnings wouldn€™t necessarily have to follow the plot of the novel, but it would be nice to see and have the added bonus of somewhat redeeming his poor characterisation in the prequel films. Vader lovers would also be extremely satisfied in seeing him hunt down remaining Jedi and squashing any resistance as he earns his place among the greatest of Sith Lords.
