Star Wars: 10 Reasons Duel Of The Fates Would've Been Way Better Than Rise Of Skywalker

Whatever your views are about the Star Wars franchise one thing is for certain: C3PO and R2D2's relationship has been a constant source of laughter, fun and love for over 40 years and, for me, are the beating heart of the Star Wars universe.

For that reason, I think the most irritating thing about ROTS was the whole C3PO "death scene". After risking his life to reveal the coordinates to the Wayfinder, the scene looked to be set for us all to say a fitting goodbye to C3PO.

Except it wasn't. Instead, the writers chickened out on the idea and decided to just plug him back in again. Then, after a couple of jolts from my main man Babu Frik, he was good as new.

Similarly, in Trevorrow's DOTF, R2 is severely damaged during the final battle and it's unsure if he will pull through. Although he is fine in the end, the script contains a heart breaking scene of C3PO mourning his friend.

Sure you could say that they chickened out on killing R2, but I would have loved to have seen how Anthony Daniels would have portrayed C3PO's sorrow for his dying friend.

I see my role at WhatCulture the same way my wife sees my role as a lover: I contribute in a very small way, my presence is barely noticeable and I’m not entirely sure if the laughter is at me or with me.
