Star Wars: 10 Starfighters We Never Got To See

9. Sassae Tiin's Sharp Spiral (Concept)

Sassae Tiis Spiral Fighter
Lucasfilm

Not a lot is known about why this excellent design never made it onto the screen. It first appeared in Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter, the 2002 video game and was designed by Amy Beth Christenson. Seeing the dozens of designs that did make it into the films and TV series, the exclusion of this ship is baffling! While it resembles the popular X-Wing fighter in the cockpit, the wings sweep down and point forward, This gives the vessel a meaner look and dials up the threat that it poses.

The ship was to be piloted by Sassae Tiin, a Jedi who appeared in Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. The ship does appear in the novelisation of the film, which may come as a little piece of consolation to the man who was killed in about 0.68 seconds by Darth Sidious.

However, that is just the end of his story. Throughout the Clone Wars, he helped the armies fight the separatist movements. In Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Tiin pilots a green-tinted Actis starfighter. However, the concept art shown above depicts the original design for Tiin's vessel.

While this design never made it into the actual series, it remains a striking image - with a nose that evokes memories of Vader's helmet!
