Star Wars: 10 Things I Learnt At My First Celebration
6. It Doesn't All Stream (And That Makes You Feel Very Important)
Star Wars Celebration streams around the world, with all but one of the Celebration Stage panels shown on Star Wars' YouTube channel, interspersed with exclusive interviews from The Star Wars Show Guys. This may make you think that attending is merely about the ephemera, but that's not really true at all.
Aside from the merchandise, much of which is exclusive and had people bolting through the convention centre in an attempt to get choice pieces (cute emoji pins were the big prize of the event), there's a lot of information and experiences to be had that can't be felt anywhere else.
The biggest example of this is the Rogue One trailer that played in addition to the sizzle reel, showing off a bunch of new footage (including a young Jyn) and ending on a perfect tease of Darth Vader, although the entire final Future Filmmakers panel, which had Alden Ehrenreich's (spelt right first time) unveiling as Han Solo, along with John Boyega, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher making quick appearances.
You also have the panels on the other stages that aren't streamed, yet are if anything more interesting than the headline acts (which I'll get to in a minute).
