Star Wars: 10 Things You Need To Know About Rogue One

3. There Could Be A Digital Peter Cushing

Remember that scene from Ant-Man where Michael Douglas was CGI blended with another actor to create a digital clone of his character that looked convincingly like a younger version of himself? That was a true feat of digital engineering, and Rogue One could be looking to go one better. There€™s talk that Lucasfilm are considering including a digital recreation of the sadly deceased Peter Cushing in Rogue One, reprising his role as Grand Moff Tarkin from A New Hope through CGI trickery. It€™s €œone of the most complex and costly CGI re-creations ever," an unnamed source within the production purportedly said to a Daily Mail reporter, before adding that " are going through hours and hours of old footage from the horror movies to recreate legs and feet to produce realistic movements." If true, and if it€™s pulled off well, this could be a truly jaw-dropping feat that could win countless plaudits for the film. If it doesn€™t go entirely brilliantly, though, fans will be disappointed that the great Mr Cushing€™s legacy wasn€™t honoured. It€™s a risky move, then, so would Lucasfilm try it?
