Star Wars: 10 Things You Never Knew About Obi-Wan Kenobi
8. He Almost Left The Jedi Order With Anakin
Obi-Wan was a character renowned for his loyalty and for being a man of his word. He was adamant to uphold these values so much so that he was determined to leave the Jedi Order so he could continue training Anakin, should his Padawan wish to part ways with the organisation.
In the fourth installment of Marvel's limited five issue comic series, Obi-Wan and Anakin, written by Charles Soule and with art by Marco Checchetto, young Anakin describes how uncomfortable he is and begins questioning his place in the Jedi Order after discussing his doubts with Chancellor Palpatine. He even shares his dilemma with Kenobi, stating that he wishes to leave before reassuring him that he is open to returning in future to continue his training.
Keep in mind that since he was nine years old, Anakin's whole life had pretty much been decided for him. If young Skywalker had left in pursuit of liberty, Kenobi would have followed. This would not have been due to him sharing his Padawan’s view but rather to keep his promise to his late Master, Qui-Gon Jinn. His dedication to the two men is arguably stronger than to the whole of the Jedi Order.
