Star Wars: 10 Times Obi-Wan Kenobi Broke His Own Rules

1. Leaving Luke To Save Leia

At the end of the third and final film in the prequel trilogy, Revenge of the Sith, Obi-Wan Kenobi gave the baby Luke Skywalker to his aunt and uncle on Tatooine before the Jedi starts his mission to watch over and protect the boy. Continuing to look out for Luke as a child and watching him grow in Disney +'s Obi-Wan Kenobi, the former Jedi sticks to his promise to Yoda.

However, the first episode of this series would see him confronted by an urgent request from Senator Organa as his adoptive daughter, Princess Leia, has been kidnapped. Stuck between his duty over the boy and the safety of the young princess, Ob-Wan eventually chooses to save her and board off-world for another galactic-filled adventure, leaving Luke and his family defenceless.

He gave one of the most powerful and oldest Jedi Masters, Yoda, his word and insisted on protecting Luke from the Empire, but broke his oath in order to help the Organa royal family in their time of need. Kenobi may know that Leia is equally as important as Luke, but he leaves the boy defenceless as Inquisitors and Stormtroopers become suspicious of Jedi hiding on Tatooine.

The show may be exciting and establishes how Leia knew Kenobi in A New Hope, but it doesn't excuse his lack of duty over Luke Skywalker and the demise he very nearly met at the end of the sixth and final episode of the high-octane and dramatic series.
