Star Wars: 10 Ways The New Films Could Improve The Prequels
3. Make Darth Vader A True Terror Once More
Sadly, the Star Wars prequels turned Anakin Skywalker from the most intimidating guy in the galaxy into a whiny man-child who hates sand and shouts lines like I HATE YOU! with all the dramatic conviction of a damp lettuce. The last audiences saw of him, Vader was stood alongside Palpatine at the end of Revenge Of The Sith with his arms crossed. One scene before that, hed been screaming NOOOOOO! over Padmes death. The character has never looked weaker than this, and its up to the new Star Wars movies to try and remedy that. With all the movies set to take place between Revenge Of The Sith and A New Hope Rogue One, Han Solo and maybe Boba Fett theres plenty of room for the character to come back, and to regain some of that villainous excellence that terrified audiences during the original trilogy. Rogue One seems the most likely to include him, focusing as it does on the Rebels and the Death Star. Whomever ends up in the suit, this Vader will need to brutally kill and seriously intimidate a lot of people in order to undo the watering-down of the character committed by George Lucas and Hayden Christensen. Is it too much to ask that he starts Force-choking all his colleagues again? If he does, perhaps Christensens prequel work may not look so awful and character-ruining.
