Star Wars: 10 Worst Things The Jedi Ever Did

2. Suppressing Emotion And Limiting Attachment

The Jedi code opens with "There is no emotion, there is peace." Earlier entries in this article deal with how the Jedi have handled "peace," but their suppression of emotions has led to far more harm than good.

The Jedi expect members of the Order to keep their emotions down, acting like unfeeling robots. This is so their emotion does not cloud their judgement, but most of the time, it just leads to poor decisions on the part of the Jedi.

Harkening back to the earlier entry about Shmi staying enslaved, had Qui-Gon been able to empathize with her, he might have saved her from slavery, and therefore saved her life.

Additionally, Jedi are forbidden from forming attachments to others. This is also designed to keep their judgement unclouded, but again, it usually leads to more harm than good. The Jedi are people, attachments are going to happen, such as Anakin's relationship with Padmé, which the Jedi forced into the shadows

Imagine how much better of a place the galaxy would be if Anakin and Padmé were allowed to express their love without fear of the Jedi's scrutiny.
