Star Wars: 15 Show-Stealing Side Characters Who Shaped The Galaxy
9. Mace Windu
Aside from Master Yoda, no one represented the power of the Jedi Order more than Mace Windu. Possibility the best warrior of the Jedi Order, Windu's fight sequences in both Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith were major highlights. The shock of Jango's beheading and the epic confrontation with Darth Sidious were two moments that live on in infamy.
While a devout and confident Jedi within the Order, Mace Windu came across as a bit stubborn in his views. No one felt these strict ways more than Anakin Skywalker among the Jedi ranks. Windu was a roadblock for Anakin throughout the prequel trilogy; initially blocking his training as a Jedi and using him as a spy within the Chancellor's office.
Shaping The Franchise
Love his character or hate him, Mace Windu packs a punch throughout the prequel trilogy. His companionship with Master Yoda on the Jedi Council gives voice to the sacred organization. Windu is reluctant to accept the role the Jedi play during the Clone Wars but it's through loyalty and tradition to the Republic that he chooses to stay the course until the end.
Windu joins both the dismemberment and "fall-to-their death" club so popular in the Star Wars films. He's also the one closest to actually stopping Palpatine throughout the entire franchise. His steadfast commitment to the Jedi Order places Mace Windu front and center as the epitome of who they are and what they fought for.
