With much of his story yet to be told, the impact of Kylo Ren has already left a major impact on the Star Wars franchise. Not only the grandson of Anakin Skywalker and offspring of Han and Leia, Kylo Ren's actions prior to the events of The Force Awakens have hardly been touched upon.

Kylo Ren, aka Ben Solo, will be a significant driving force during the events of the sequel trilogy. He's a monster in the making; taking his final steps into darkness after murdering his father at the end of The Force Awakens. Fans were able to witness the building of a villain in one film rather than watching the slow burn that was Anakin's story in the prequel trilogy.

Shaping The Franchise

While Kylo Ren's story is still unfolding, the impact his character has already left with Han Solo's death is significant. The scene between father in son is unquestionably the most heartbreaking scene of the entire franchise. Even though Kylo Ren's actions have been horrific prior to the murder of his father, this final act solidifies his destiny and completes his turn to the Dark Side.

Kylo Ren has the potential to be as evil a villain as Darth Sidious. While Supreme Leader Snoke is the puppet master behind Kylo Ren's actions, it's the actual commitment of the murder that seals his fate. Many of the events that occurred around Anakin resulted in his fall to the dark side where Kylo Ren is driving the events that lead to his fall; a significant difference between Grandfather and Grandson.
