Star Wars: 20 Things You Didn't Know About Return Of The Jedi

5. Cinematographer Alan Hume Resigned In The Last Month Of Production

Though Alan Hume received a full credit as the film's cinematographer, he actually ended up informally resigning from the film in the final month of production as a protest over George Lucas' treatment of director Richard Marquand.

Lensing for the final month was instead completed by camera operator Alec Mills, who despite being uncredited for his contributions as DP, later went on to be the solo cinematographer on Bond films The Living Daylights and Licence to Kill.

The disagreement clearly didn't harm Hume much, though, as he himself lensed the likes of Supergirl, A View to a Kill, Runaway Train, and A Fish Called Wanda in the years that followed.
