Star Wars: 20 Worst Franchise Moments (So Far)
1. Anakin And Padme's Dreadful Romance
Film: Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones
As bad as all of these scenes are, nothing can compare to Anakin and Padme's terrible love story in Attack of the Clones.
This is more or less the epitome of a badly-done film romance. The pair have no chemistry, the dialogue is horrendous and nothing about the love story is even remotely meaningful or touching. Worst of all, more often than not it's downright creepy thanks to Hayden Christensen's awful creeper expression he keeps giving Padme. Why does poor Natalie Portman end up in a chemistry-free romance whenever she ends up in a big blockbuster franchise?
If someone were to put together a compilation of all the Anakin and Padme scenes from AOTC and put them online as a 'Try not to cringe' challenge, there would be a 0.01% success rate. It really is that bad.
Whether it's them rolling around in a field, having a laughably weak conversation about how their feelings are destroying each other or Padme abruptly declaring that she loves him, this is a toe-curlingly awful subplot and Star Wars was never less fun to watch than it was during these scenes.
