Thanks to her starring role in the new Star Wars Trilogy, Daisy Ridley's movie future may be mapped out clearer than the path to Luke Skywalker, but she's still finding room for other potential franchises in her schedule.

Although reportedly missing out on Tomb Raider, the actress has now been cast as the lead of Chaos Walking, an adaptation of Patrick Ness' trilogy of Young Adult books in production at Lionsgate (as reported by Variety).

The movie has been in-development for a while now, with Robert Zemeckis previous attached to direct a script from Charlie Kauffman. Now it's Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow) in the director's chair, with the most recent version of the script penned by Jamie Linden (Money Monster).

The books are set in the fictional Prentisstown, where everyone can hear each other's every thought, and there's an constant, never-ending wall of Noise. Just one month before the birthday that will see him become a man, Todd, the last boy in the town, and his dog Manchee, discover a spot of perfect silence, and a mysterious girl, Viola, which forces them to flee the town.

It's a thrillingly entertaining and endlessly inventive trilogy, and if they can make an adaptation work then it should be another hit YA franchise. It's unclear whether or not the movie will encompass all three books, or simply draw on the first - The Knife of Never Letting Go - but you'd imagine the plan is to turn it into a viable movie trilogy.

Ridley will be starring as Viola, who becomes a point-of-view character in the second and third books, and with her now attached the film will hopefully start moving forward at a faster pace, because this is one adaptation I can't wait to see (until they inevitably both the execution, anyway).
