Star Wars: 50 Greatest Moments - Ranked

32. Escape From Jakku (The Force Awakens)

The entire escape from Jakku is made up of brilliant little moments, such as referring to the Millennium Falcon as "garbage" to her and Finn comparing notes after they've got away, but what they add up to is one of the most thrilling sequences in the entirety of The Force Awakens.

Seeing the Falcon fly again, the first time since Return of the Jedi, was an absolute joy to behold, engaging in a classic battle with TIE Fighters before flying in-and-out of the wrecked Super Star Destroyer.

It is, like the best Star Wars set-pieces, an electrifying mix of action and character. Soon after the escape we have Han and Chewie arriving on the scene, with the brilliant "We're home" line, but this sequence says it before Han does.
