Star Wars 7: 6 Reasons That Adam Driver Will Be Jacen Solo
3. A Greater Threat And Darth Caedus We have to believe that the events of the sequel trilogy will be taking place roughly 30+ years after the events of Return of the Jedi - Both for the sake of the real life aging that the original actors have gone through and the perspective of adult offspring that will be major characters. I believe that the opening scroll to the film will put the context of the story in place and fill the audience in as to where the galaxy stands. The dialogue could be something along the lines that the Empire has fallen and that a New Republic has been established while the galaxy is thriving during a time of peace. The Star Wars saga is about the struggle between the Jedi and the Sith and that will be the case for the sequel trilogy. It's unlikely that struggle being on the scale of what EU fans of the Old Republic are hoping for with hordes of Jedi fighting against hordes of Sith in open combat. Hopefully fans will finally see something like that but it's questionable whether it has a place in the sequel trilogy. With that being said, the subplot of the movie should revolve around some sort of other military conflict or shadow game that is weakening the fragile New Republic that has been established, be it an Imperial remnant led by someone like Thrawn or some other smaller Sith faction. The EU is rich with a lot of Force philosophy that calls into question the acts of right and wrong, good and evil. The concept of a grey area of the Force is introduced with that belief that as long as someone has good intentions, the Force can be used in any way possible. This is where audiences will begin to witness the fall of Jacen Solo as he tries to hold the Republic together while he constantly battles within himself that the ends justify the means. Ultimately Jacen will succumb to the Dark Side the same way that his grandfather did in trying to save the galaxy from a larger threat. The only way that Jacen sees this as being possible is if he embraces the Sith philosophy and brings order to the galaxy once and for all. Jacen will discover that his reasoning is wrong and that it will ultimately lead him down a path of destruction where he will quickly lose control of himself and the situation around him. The only way for him to stay in control is to fully adopt and submit to the Dark Side in which he will eventually dub himself Darth Caedus, the new leader of the Sith.
